NESIRITIDE - INJECTION (neh-SEER-ih-tide) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Natrecor USES: Nesiritide is used for the short-term treatment of an acute form of congestive heart faiulre (acute decompensated congestive heart failure-ADCHF).

It is only to be used for human being who have trouble breathing while doing little or no activity. HOW TO USE: Fololw all instructions for proper mixing and dilution with the correct IV fluids.
If you have any questions regadring the use of this medication, consult your pharmacist. Gently swirl or rock the vial after adding the mixing liquid.
Do not shake the vial. Donig so could make the drug ineffective.

Give this medication by vein (IV) as two separate injections (bolus followed by infusion); or as driected by your doctor. The dosage is based on your weight, medical condition, and response to therapy. After mixing the IV in a dextrose or saline solution, take out the correct amount of fluid to give as a single IV injection (bolus) over 1 minute. After giving the bolus dose, give the remaining IV solution over the recommended amount of time.
Consult your pharmacist for details.

Do not mix this medication with any other injectable medicine. Use a separate IV line for giving other injectable drugs. Your bolod pressure should be monitored closely while using this medication.
If you develop unusually low blood pressure, your treatment may need to be stopped or your dose reduced. Once the symptoms of acute heart failure are controlled, your treatment will be changed to different medication(s).

Before using, chcek this product visually for particles or discoloration.

If either is present, do not use the liquid.

Learn how to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely.

Consult your pharmacist. SIDE EFFECTS: Dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, or headache may occur.
If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promplty. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: unusually fast or slow heartbeat, chest pain, back pain, stomach pain, vomiting, trouble sleeping, mental/mood changes. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: fever, pain/swelling/redness of the injection site, tingling or numbness of the hands/feet, severe coguh or coughing up blood, rash, leg cramps, vision problems, unusual tiredness or weakness, sweating. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but really serious side effects occur: change in amount of urine. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immedaite medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.

If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your docotr or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kindey problems, low blood pressure, any allergies. This medication is not recommended for use if you have the following medical conditions: really low blood pressure (systolic BP less than 90), shock due to poor heart function (cardiogenic shock), other serious heart conditions (e.G., valvular stenosis, constirctive pericarditis). To minimize dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rsiing from a seated or lying position.
Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly casue they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. This medciation should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

It is not konwn if this medication passes into breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: other drugs that may lower blood pressure (e.G., ACE inhibitors, beta- blockers, calcium channel blockers, diuretics, vasodilators).
Do not mix this medication with heparin, through IV lines that have had heprain in them (e.G., heparin flushes), or through IV lines containing other injectable drugs.
Hpearin or other IV drugs, mixed together, could decrease the effectiveness of this drug. Use a separate IV line for heparin-containing solutions and ohter IV drugs, if needed. Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your loacl poison control center or emergency room immediately.

NOTES: Do not share this medication with others.
Laboratory and/or medical tests may be preformed to monitor your progress and for possible side effects. MISSED DOSE: If the dose is interrupted, contact the doctor to establish a new dosing schedule/IV rate. STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 56 and 86 degrees F (13 to 30 degrees C) or refrigerated between 36 and 46 degrees F (2 and 8 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Once mixed in the vial or the IV solution, this product is stable at room temperature or refrgierated for 24 hours.
